This video was taken by a tenant recording illegal after hour construction. Its keeping the tenant's child awake. The lack of response from the worker is sadly typical. We tenants will have to be the Real Time Enforcement with our cameras, and smart phones, until we can force the DOB to do so.

Construction at 58 East 3rd St.

The dust and debris of gut renovation in the hallways. The plastic tarp hung over the apartment doors are completely ineffective in keeping the dust and filth out of a tenant's home. The chemical content  of the dust and debris is uncertain, as well as its effect upon tenant health. Children and Seniors perhaps most vulnerable to the effects of the the noise, stress, and filth.

The Daily Coating of Construction Dust

These are photographs a tenant took on East 6th St. They show the daily accumulation of construction dust that tenants must cope with. It coats all surfaces. It invades closed drawers coating all items inside. The color of the dust can vary daily, raising concerns about the chemical content, and possible toxic effects on the health of tenants. This condition can often last for months, even more than a year.
